MTa’s learning system was originally developed for use with adults but we quickly realised that it was equally appropriate for young people. Consequently we have written a manual of activities for teachers and youth workers to use with young people, MTa Pass (Potential x Attitude x Skill > Success).
MTa Pass is about enabling young people make the most of themselves. It is a flexible learning package designed to help them grow in confidence and self worth. Participants find out more about their personal Potential, develop a positive Attitude towards themselves and their environment, and improve their personal and interpersonal Skills which when combined in turn leads to personal Success, Potential x Attitude x Skill > Success, i.e. PASS
MTa Pass aims to help young people:-
- understand and prioritise what is important to them and their success
- understand how to work more effectively with others, no matter what their background, culture, skills, knowledge or creed
- develop personal skills e.g. team-working, problem solving, thinking and leadership in a way that will bring them real personal benefit
- develop appropriate levels of self confidence and positive attitudes so that they can make the most of their potential
- understand the value and relevance of developing and using their personal potential in society.
Students tackle short tasks in groups. On completion, carefully designed review processes focus individuals’ attention on the issues the activity has raised, before taking them through a step by step approach to personal learning and development.
