Project Management Activities
Project Management Activities The challenges facing project managers include:
  • understand and prioritise the key issues
  • match the available resources with the needs of the project
  • provide direction and support to individuals involved
  • motivate
  • manage conflict
  • maintain an overview of the whole process.

Consequently the effective project manager draws on a wide range of mental attributes and behaviours supported by appropriate attitudes.
It is not practical to reflect all of this complexity in one learning activity, but several of MTa’s activities introduce and develop some of the key concepts.

MTa’s packages enable facilitators and trainers to introduce these concepts and behaviours experientially into their workshops. Our activities engage participants in tasks that reflect these project management issues. On completion of the task, carefully designed review processes focus participants’ attention on the key concepts the activity was designed to highlight before taking people though a step by step approach to personal learning and development.

MTa MINI Crossing Boundaries™
The MTa MINI Crossing Boundaries contains "The Rig". A project management activity.
  • Time: 1 to 3 hours
  • Level: Intermediate to Advanced
  • Participants: 6-15

These 5 demanding activities develop the team working and leadership skills needed when working across functional. hierarchical. geographical and historical boundaries.

The activity 'The Rig' focuses on many aspects of Project Management. The aim is to make money by designing an assembling an 'oil rig'. There is a cost involved in everything but high sales values are possible. Co-ordinating efforts across three distinct locations often takes priority and the overall aim of making money can be forgotten!

MTa Insights™
MTa Insights: Shorter activities introduce the basic concepts of project management. The longer activities pull them together.
  • Length of Activities:10 mins to 4 hours
  • levelicon Level of Activities: Introductory to Advanced
  • Participants: 3-24

The MTa Insights activities, as their name implies, offer insights into most aspects of working effectively with, and leading, others. All of the basic concepts of Project Management  are introuduced  through the shorter activities whereas the longer leadership activity Maxi Market pulls together the key elements.

Consequently the pack of Insights materials offer the facilitator the opportunity to focus on and develop the key qualities that are appropriate to their participants involved.
